6. Burglar Bill
Activity 1:
Oh we do love to be beside the seaside!
When Burglar Bill and Burglar Betty got married they might have gone on a honeymoon to the British seaside. This was a traditional place to go in the past, before travel abroad became popular in the 1960s.
If you have someone in your family who grew up in the 50s why not give them a ring/Zoom and ask them about their childhood holidays. You could also ask if they read the famous Five books. I'm sure they would love to chat.
Use the Internet to plan a British seaside holiday for you and your family.
Think about:
- When
- Where
- For how long
- Travel
- Place to stay
- Food
- Activities
- Packing list
Maybe use PowerPoint or Word to write out your plan.
As a boy all my adventures at the seaside were linked to the Famous Five books, I used to imagine there were smugglers and criminals of all sorts for me to track down and lock up. If you can find a copy of 'Five on a Treasure Island', they are a fun read even if a bit old fashioned (I think there are updated versions).
