DESIGN YOUR OWN FAMILY CHRISTMAS CARD PROJECT

As you may have already experienced, parents have been unable to place their orders online.  Due to ongoing problems the company has advised us that they are unable to complete the project with online ordering.  As time is upon us and due to our lack of confidence in the existing provider, we as a school have taken the decision to change our supplier.

    What this means for you?

Artwork – all of your artwork will remain valid, however it will have to be returned to school by Monday 7th November and not the 10th as previously advised.    It is essential that you place your child’s name and class name on the reverse of your artwork.

How will you place your order?

On Friday 11th November, the new supplier will provide an online gallery for you to view your artwork.  A sample card will then be sent home with your child together with an order form no later than Tuesday 15th November.  Orders must be returned no later than Friday 18th November.

When will your Christmas Cards be despatched?

Your Christmas cards will be sent home with your child week commencing 5th December 2016.

    What about Christmas Card costs?

The costs charged for cards will remain either the same or cheaper, there is also an additional range of products to choose from.

We regret that we have had to take this decision, however we feel this is in the best interests of the children.

  • Update on learning at Llanishen Fach

    Fri 30 Sep 2016

As a school which continues to develop sector leading innovation, recognised by our ‘Hub School’ status within the Central South Wales Consortium and our role as a ‘Pioneer School’ developing a new curriculum with Welsh Government , we remain at the centre of pedagogical research and the implementation of best practice both in and out of the classroom.

The teaching and learning of literacy and numeracy is at the heart of all that we do. Through careful planning and expert teaching these skills are taught explicitly, during maths and English lessons, as well as being more widely practised and applied across the whole curriculum. In line with the publication of the new curriculum (September 2016) from the Welsh Government, we are now also integrating digital competency, alongside literacy and numeracy, in all subjects. It is our resolve that all our children, on leaving Llanishen Fach, are equipped with the essential transferrable skills required to enable them to become fulfilled ‘lifelong learners’.

We recognise that the kinds of jobs that our pupils may find themselves doing in later life may not even have been dreamt of yet! With that in mind we want our children to become more resilient and able to face and find solutions to the shifting challenges ahead. As an innovative and ambitious school we are always looking to extend the quality of our teaching and learning. This year we have redesigned the staff structure so as to deliver additional flexible specialist enrichment provision. The aim of this remodelling is that learners may further develop their: critical thinking, problem solving, planning and organisation, creativity and personal effectiveness.

    This enrichment provision consists of:

    • Lego Technology
    • Creative Arts
    • Digital Competency
    • Welsh Curriculum and Heritage
    • Outdoor Learning
    • Developing Oracy Through Physical Activity

Currently our children are embarking on a project making a series of films to show the wider community how we learn at Llanishen Fach. We encourage you to take time, when these films become available, to watch them with your child and discuss the range of learning experiences that they undertake.

  • Year 4 Tennis Team

    Thu 28 Apr 2016 M. Carter
What a fantastic effort from the 12 pupils selected for the Year 4 Tennis Team. The Cardiff Sport Mini Red Tennis Competition was held at the House of Sport earlier this week, with schools from, all over Cardiff competing. We entered 3 teams of 4 pupils in the boys, girls and mixed events. Through out the morning the skills of all the pupils improved tremendously. We came away with third, fourth and fifth place. What a great effort, well done everyone!
